The Mexican Society of Synchrotron Light, A.C. (SMLS) is a national organization (Union) founded on December 9th, 2019 by Mayra Cuéllar-Cruz, PhD., Abel Moreno-Cárcamo Ph.D., Luis Edmundo Fuentes-Cobas Ph.D., María Elena Montero-Cabrera Ph.D., Fernando Matías-Moreno-Yntriago Ph.D., Gustavo Cruz-Jiménez Ph.D., and René Loredo-Portales Ph.D.
The aim of founding the SMLS brought together a group of Mexican students and professionals that develop and use synchrotron light as an instrumental tools in their scientific research and carriers. This is the first scientific society of its kind in Latin America, that looks at the future and brings the techniques of synchrotron light (through courses, workshops, schools and congresses) to the Mexican society not only to get technical benefits to academic and research users but to get closer to industry and promote innovative technology.
